I am really competitive, so of course I wanted to win. I did 200m on my treadmill and then my partner did her leg of the relay on her treadmill. The class also included partner work in the form of a 200m relay. You can never go wrong with a bit of funky house. I have set playlists for when I am working out and I was worried that Rory’s playlist wouldn’t be able to power me through the workout, but luckily for me Rory chose a funky house set. Throughout the duration of the class you listen to the instructor through earphones and they also choose the music that you listen to. The treadmills at my gym can only reach a top speed of 20KMPH, so 23KMPH was completely new to me and it was fast but I managed to run at this speed over and over again. Rory pushed us to our limits which meant that some intervals saw me running at the treadmills top speed of 23KMPH. I do intervals at a 2:1 ratio for 20 minutes, whereas this class varied the interval times, distance and speed. I usually do intervals on the treadmill 1-2 times a week, but Rory’s intervals were different to what I am used to. The Tread and Shred is a 45-minute interval based treadmill workout that is designed to help improve your cardiovascular fitness and stamina, whilst burning fat. The workout looks a lot like the pictures above… the only difference is that by the time you have finished your hair will be stuck to your face and you will be sweating out of places that you didn’t know had sweat glands. We all know how much I love running and I am always trying to find ways to challenge myself so after hearing about their Tread and Shred class I booked a session with their trainer, Rory Knight. Like most of you I wasn’t sure what ‘it’ was, so I headed down to the boutique gym to see if they could make me do ‘it’. Equinox gym in South Kensington has a reputation for making people do ‘it’.
